Plant nursery in Juneau
Plant nursery and landscape business
What We Do
For 25 years, we, Margaret Tharp MLA and David Lendrum, have been providing the link between Southeast Alaska and the larger world of modern horticulture from our nursery and landscape business now located on Commercial Blvd. on the way to Costco in Juneau Alaska. Each year we bring Rhododendrons and Roses, Peonies and Hydrangeas, Maples and Apples, from the best growers in North America. These provide the background and body of the domestic landscapes of our towns. Drive down any street, look at any neighborhood, and you will see flowering shrubs, hardy perennials, fruit and shade trees and thousands those great huge pansies, our signature flowers.
Margaret is the most prolific architect of the landscape working in our region; she has redefined the field as an expression of the desires of our neighbors for a style appropriate for our needs. Her development of a method of transplanting the native understory as intact plant communities has allowed new projects to fit into their surroundings as if they had just grown there, and prevents the long maintenance period required for establishment of new plantings.
Look at her Landscape Architecture page on our website for a list of projects and awards.
David is a plantsman; all his life he has worked with the plants; growing, cultivating, propagating, hybridizing, and seeking out the best forms for particular uses and places. Walk through the nursery on any day and be introduced to dozens of new introductions to the Juneau palate
We are conveniently located in Juneau and serve all of Southeast Alaska.
Landscape Alaska has developed a network of the best growers in North America, such as Bailey Nurseries
many of the plants are grown especially for our climate and soils; we also import from our Canadian friends at Perennials.com the latest European perennials, often unavailable from American sources for years to come. We feature organic vegetables and herbs, and specialize in native plants and soils. We handle a line of slow release fertilizers developed for the Canadian reforestation industry, especially designed for cold wet soils.
